Great Barrington man arrested for allegedly threatening President Trump
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - A man from the Berkshires has been arrested over accusations he threated to kill President Donald Trump on numerous occasions, authorities report.
According to FBI Boston officials he was arrested on Wednesday.
“Special agents and officers on #FBI Boston’s Western Massachusetts Joint Terrorism Task Force arrested Andrew D. Emerald, of Great Barrington, MA, today for allegedly threatening to injure and kill President Donald J. Trump,” FBI Boston posted to their ‘X’ account.
The United States Attorney’s Office in Massachusetts reporting just before 12:30 p.m. in a release sent to our newsroom, that Emerald will appear in federal court this afternoon in Springfield.
Western Mass News will have a crew at the courthouse to cover the proceedings.
We’re told 45-year-old Emerald was indicted by a federal grand jury on eight counts of interstate transmission of threatening communications.
“According to the indictment, from May 2025 to July 2025, Emerald intentionally made eight separate Facebook posts in which he threatened to injure President Trump,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office says.
The charge of interstate transmission of threatening communications provides for a sentence of up to five years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of $250,000.
