Heavy police presence in Springfield neighborhood

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Numerous police officers, cruisers, are in a Springfield neighborhood right now.

Western Mass News has a crew at the scene on Wilbraham Road. We saw at least one police officer with a shield and at least 10 police cruisers.

We first learned about the heavy police presence around 12:30 p.m. Friday.

Wilbraham Rd. is currently shut down from Donbray Road up to Ferncliff Avenue.

Western Mass News reached out to the Springfield Police Department for information about what’s going on and they reported the following to us:

“There is an individual in the home who his family is concerned about and may be a danger to himself,” explained representative, Ryan Walsh.
