NEW SALEM, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Just before 8 p.m. on Friday evening, the Massachusetts State Police were notified of a plane crashing into O’Laughlin Pond near the Quabbin Reservoir in the area of Route 122.

Troopers from the Belchertown and Athol Barracks, Marine Unit, and Massachusetts State Police Detectives have responded to the crash.

At this time, it is believed only the pilot was on board the plane at the time of the crash. They were airlifted to UMass Medical Lakeside campus for treatment.
