CHICOPEE, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Nearly 2,000 customers have lost power in Chicopee this afternoon amidst hot and humid temperatures.

A viewer reached out to Western Mass News alerting us of the situation around 1 p.m. today.

Chicopee Electric Light is reporting this to be in the Chicopee Falls area of the city saying in part:

“We are aware of an outage in the center area of downtown. Crews are on scene and on the way to assess and get the lights back on!”

According to their Outage Map a total of 1,924 customers have lost electricity and they are currently listing the cause as being ‘unknown.’

No word yet when power will be restored.
