Jack's Hot Dog Stand is offering free hot dogs for veterans on Veterans Day

NORTH ADAMS — Jack's Hot Dog Stand is offering free hot dogs on Tuesday to all veterans in honor of Veterans Day, thanks to a $200 donation from a community member.
Jeff Levanos, former owner of the beloved business at 12 Eagle St., said veterans can get a free hot dog, no questions asked. Jack's is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The idea came about after a man walked into the business last week and offered to donate $200 to the cause, said Levanos.
"He said he wanted to give us $200 in hopes that we would give out 200 free hot dogs to veterans who came in that day," said Levanos. "We decided that we would match that donation. We really weren't thinking about doing anything, but when [Jim] Boyle came in and offered to do that, it just hit us that it was a great idea."
Jack's was founded by Levanos' grandfather, Jaffros, in 1917. Now the place is run by Levanos' son, Joe.
Jim Boyle, who donated the money, is not a regular at Jack's, Levanos said. But he's grateful he stopped in.
"There's no connection — I don't know where the idea came from but I'm glad he did," Levanos said.
