A new Trader Joe’s store is about to open in Newton, the second in the city.

The new location at 165 Needham St. will open its doors at 9 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, the company announced Monday. A short ribbon cutting ceremony will be held five minutes before opening time.

There is already a Trader Joe’s at 1121 Washington St. in West Newton.

More than 70 employees were hired for the new store in addition to transfers from other locations, according to the company.

“Trader Joe’s will donate 100% of products that go unsold but remain fit to enjoy to a range of nonprofit, community-based organizations,” the company said in a statement on Monday, following its Neighborhood Shares Program also in place at other locations.

The new store will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Trader Joe’s announced in July that it would open 30 new stores around the country, with two in Massachusetts, including the Needham Street location. The other, at 1999 Centre St. in West Roxbury, opened on Oct. 30.
