Trendy Japanese ice cream, doughnut shop in Cambridge to close soon
A one-stop shop for Japanese-inspired ice cream and doughnuts in Cambridge will soon be gone.
Taiyaki NYC and The Dough Club in Harvard Square are closing later this month, the company announced on social media.
“After many sweet memories, it’s time to say goodbye 💔 Our shop will be closing on Sunday, November 23, 2025," The Dough Club wrote in an Instagram post on Wednesday, Nov. 5. “Come visit us one last time for your favorite mochi donuts & Taiyaki ice cream 🍩🍦 Thank you for all the love and support over the years, we couldn’t have done it without you."
Known for its soft-serve ice cream served in fish-shaped cones, Taiyaki NYC opened its Harvard Square location alongside its sister business in 2022. Meanwhile, The Dough Club specializes in Japanese mochi donuts as well as Asian-inspired milkshakes and other beverages.
Both companies are based out of New York City, with Taiyaki’s first location opening in Manhattan’s Chinatown in 2016. The company has since expanded with additional locations in other cities including Boston, Miami and Toronto. Taiyaki NYC opened its Seaport location in 2019.
An exact reason behind Taiyaki NYC and The Dough Club’s closure was not provided. The joint business is located at 6 Church St., Cambridge.
