SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - In an effort with Massachusetts State Police, Springfield police arrested 51 people and handed out hundreds of citations in 24 hours.

The operation was meant to address criminal activity and quality-of-life concerns identified by Springfield residents. It took place on June 24 and June 25.

More than 80 Massachusetts state troopers supplemented Springfield police to address violent crime, drug activity, and more.

The results were as follows:

“These coordinated efforts help make our neighborhoods safer, and we look forward to continuing this collaborative work throughout the summer,” said Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni.
