A Pittsfield man has won $1 million from a scratch ticket purchased at the West Street Big Y. Here's what he plans to spend it ...

PITTSFIELD — For Jacinto Parducci Ramirez, a trip to the grocery store yielded a $1 million lottery win.
Ramirez won big with a “$4,000,000 Bonus Bucks” instant ticket purchased at the West Street Big Y, according to WWLP. He bought two $10 tickets, one of which was the $1 million winner.
"Hit for $20 so he bought two $10 tickets," a lottery social media post on his winnings reads. "And hit for $1 MILLION!"
What does the Pittsfield resident plan to do with the money? He hopes to use it to buy a house.
Ramirez claimed his winnings at the Massachusetts State Lottery headquarters in Dorchester and chose the lump sum payment of $650,000 before taxes. Big Y will receive $10,000 for selling the winning ticket.
He is among only a handful of Berkshire residents to win $1 million through the state lottery over the past year.
In December, Williamstown's Chatchavan Buasaengthong won $1 million in a second-chance promotion at TD Garden. In September, Pittsfield’s Sarah Newton won $10 million from a scratch ticket purchased at a West Housatonic convenience store, and Adams’ Craig Raymond won $1 million from a ticket purchased at the Adams Racing Mart in February.
Ramirez's win is the highest of any Berkshire County resident this year. Only one other prize of at least $100,000 has been reported in Berkshire County in 2026.
The other? A $100,000 prize claimed Friday from a ticket sold at the First Street Cumberland Farms, won with a $30 "300X" ticket. The State Lottery has not released the name of that winner.
