WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Our team coverage now turns to Western Mass News getting answers on some homemade hacks that might help you prep for the storm, with items that you most likely already have in your house.

These tricks are coming from AAA, who put out a post on social media with details on some unique storm hacks. We took to the streets today to find out what the average western Mass resident does to prepare specifically related to cleaning your driveway and sidewalks.

They had their plan, but it didn’t include what we’re about to show you.

Of course, clearing your driveway and sidewalks is super important, but what about when that thick snow sticks to your shovel or snow blower?

AAA’s answer: cooking oil.

Now another quick hack that you may not think of is to move the positioning of your car. AAA said that if you face your car east, the sun will melt the snow and ice fastest when it rises. Obviously, this is not something we can test right this second, but that’s just the beginning of our tricks this evening.
