PITTSFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - New developments for the Adams couple convicted for the death of their 10-month-old foster child.

Matthew Tucker and Cassandra Barlow-Tucker have been sentenced to 3 to 5 years in state prison following last month’s convictions for involuntary manslaughter and reckless endangerment of a child.

Prosecutors said the baby died because they didn’t take him to the doctor despite him clearly needing help. The couple was due to be sentenced in March — but at the time, the judge said he wanted a care plan for the couple’s 4 other children first, 2 of whom have special needs.

As a result, the sentences will be staggered, with Barlow-Tucker serving her sentence first, and her husband serving his upon her release. Each will be on probation while the other is in prison and are not allowed to serve as foster parents or be caregivers to other children.
