SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - It’s been exactly six months since nearly 320 malnourished animals were rescued in Hadley.

The MSPCA said they showed signs of being in the cold without food, water, or shelter.

Now, those animals are ready for permanent homes.

On Monday, the organization announced that they’re hosting a “Come Say Hay” event for a chance to speak with shelter staff and begin the adoption process.

Most available animals are birds, but there are also horses, goats, cows, pigs, and even a zebus.

MSPCA Angell says the animals had to stay under their care as court proceedings played out, pushing capacity to the brink. They’ve taken in 400 farm animals this year alone, 317 of them from Hadley.

Come Say Hay is set for this weekend, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Nevins Farm in Methuen.
