Agawam City Councilor donates to Western Mass News’ Toys for Tots campaign

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - We’re in the final stretch of our Toys for Tots campaign, and one western Mass city councilor is proving it’s not too late to spread the holiday magic.
The Vice President of Agawam’s City Council Anthony Russo stopped by our studio on 1300 Liberty Street in Springfield on Wednesday.
Russo donates his entire council salary to a different charity each month. This December, it was Toys for Tots.
We caught up with Russo as he arrived at the station with his donation, “when I became on the city council and I started donating my salary, my monthly salary, I’m like ‘everything has to be something Agawam-affiliated’, but I said this one time, for the kids, at Christmas time, the whole salary goes to toys for tots, and let all the kids enjoy from wherever, because every kid deserves a good Christmas,” Russo said.
Along with the monetary donation, Councilor Russo also filled his trunk and loaded our boxes to make the holidays special for many.
