AMHERST, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - An Amherst Regional High School graduate is earning national recognition and help paying for college.

Ajmain Sharar has been named an Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship winner for 2026, one of just five students in the state to do so and one in 200 nationwide.

The award is worth up to $40,000 over four years. Sharar is set to study engineering at the University of Michigan this fall.

The award also includes a paid Amazon internship after his first year, giving him real-world experience and mentorship in the tech industry.
