Authorities remind residents to be vigilant after rabid raccoon spotting

SOUTHWICK, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - Neighbors in Southwick were warned about a confirmed case of rabies after discovering a rabid raccoon on Ferrin Drive, off of Mort Vining Road.
Southwick Animal Control assured that this isn’t something new in town, they just haven’t had a case in some time. Animal Control asked people in the area to keep note of any animals acting ill, like being overly aggressive or appearing to be drunk.
They say an infected animal can switch between the two behaviors. They also reminded the public to make sure all your pets have their rabies vaccine, cats, dogs, and farm animals too.
