Berkshire Flyer returns June 12 with more weekend service to Pittsfield

The Berkshire Flyer, the seasonal train offering weekend trips between New York City and Pittsfield, will return June 12 and run through Sept. 19, according to Amtrak.
The service, operated in partnership with the Massachusetts and New York transportation departments, will again connect Moynihan Train Hall in Manhattan with Pittsfield via Albany-Rensselaer and several Hudson Valley stops.
New this year is a second round trip that officials say is aimed at making weekend travel between the Berkshires and New York City more convenient. Travelers will be able to leave Pittsfield on Fridays and return Sundays.
The Berkshire Flyer will operate Fridays and Sundays, making the same intermediate stops as Amtrak’s Empire Service trains, including Yonkers, Poughkeepsie, Rhinecliff, Hudson and Albany-Rensselaer.
Passengers will depart and arrive in Pittsfield at the Joseph Scelsi Intermodal Transportation Center on Columbus Avenue. Tickets are available through Amtrak.com or Amtrak’s mobile app and reservation line.
