BOSTON (WGGB/WSHM) - Our World Cup coverage continued in Boston as Friday’s slate of games kicked off with France and Norway played in Boston Stadium. Western Mass News got to speak with fans about what makes this event so special.

Here at Boston’s Fan Fest, there’s been a great representation of French and Norwegian fans for this match but also people from all different cultures here representing all over the world. That is probably the coolest thing about the World Cup.

“Been able to see all the different countries in the world whether it’s Scotland, Morocco, Haiti, Cape Verde and the Americans come together and get to celebrate one sport,” said Thomas Chen of Cambridge.

We got to speak with a group of friends who had one friend fly in from Brittany in France to be a part of all this. He told us that Boston was the only place that he wanted to be for this match.

“Boston’s the best place for that. Vision people from all around the world. I’ve been in Boston for 5 years, all of my friends are from Europe, Portugal, South America and having the World Cup in the U.S. with all these cultures, it’s amazing,” said Florian Fouillet.

From Viking hats to the now viral Viking row chant that’s taking over all of social media it’s been a party out here. Even though they’re not showing the Senegal-Iraq match, we did run into a few fans.

So, whether your country’s still in contention for the World Cup, or you just want to come or to represent, the Boston fan fest had something for you.
