GREENFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - A celebration of life was held Friday night for the Doncev’s, a Greenfield family of four who lost their lives last month in a tragic crash on Interstate 95 in Virginia.

Among those killed were Dmitri and Ecaterina Doncev of Greenfield, along with their children, 14-year-old Emily and 7-year-old Mark. The family was traveling to South Carolina for a wedding when the crash occurred. A fifth victim, 25-year-old Priscilla Mafalda of Worcester, also died in the crash.

Hundreds of people filled Providence Christian Academy on Friday night to remember the family described as kind, loving, and deeply involved in the Greenfield community. At the celebration of life, speakers shared memories of the family whose impact reached far beyond Greenfield.

Friends and community members reflected on their love for one another, their devotion to family, and the joy they brought to those around them. The service marked the first of two days of remembrance, with a funeral and burial service scheduled for Saturday at the First Congregational Church of Greenfield.
