SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Western Massachusetts came out to honor the life of 14-year-old E’Mari Marshall Woodard of Springfield with a balloon release and ride-out.

Despite the rain and wind, crowds gathered around 6:30 p.m. at Canon Circle to celebrate the life of middle schooler E’Mari who drowned during a field trip to High Meadow in North Granby, Connecticut last Wednesday.

E’Mari’s family described him as a math wizard and a peer leader, and say he told his mom he loved her every day. The community has been coming together to support E’Mari’s family, and tonight was another way for them to show up placing candles and releasing balloons in E’Mari’s honor.

Following the balloon release, a memorial ride out was held. There is still a GoFundMe up to support emari’s family at this time, you can find the link here.
