Clarksburg annual town meeting preview 2026

Voters will gather at Clarksburg Elementary School on Wednesday at 6 p.m. to consider the town's budget, as well as other town spending measures.

TOP ISSUES AT TOWN MEETING: A proposed total budget of $5.5 million represents an increase of $164,000, or 3 percent, over the current year. The town's operating budget is up 2.6 percent to $1.9 million and school spending came in at $3.2 million, up 4.10 percent, with McCann Technical School assessment down 2.5 percent at $426,330. Voters will also be asked to approve free cash spending articles, including transferring $450,000 to the town stabilization account; $150,000 to reduce the tax rate; $163,500 to purchase a 2026 Ford Super Duty F-600.
Two stabilization spending articles will require approval by two-thirds of voters. One will ask the town to appropriate or transfer $19,500 from the Clarksburg School stabilization account to replace a concrete pad at the school entrance; the other asks for $70,000 from the account to fund ADA-compliant upgrades to the elementary school bathrooms.
