Crews respond to house fire after giving mutual aid

PELHAM, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Fire crews in Pelham were kept busy after assisting with Saturday’s apartment fire in Sunderland.

Around 4:40 a.m. Saturday morning on Gulf Road, fire crews from Amherst and Belchertown aided Pelham fire in fighting a house fire as they worked to extinguish the flames.

The cause of the fire was determined to be improper disposal of smoking materials. The Pelham Fire department advises residents to check smoke detectors regularly, and use caution with smoking materials.

There have been no reports of any injuries at this time.
