Details released on Adams officer involved shooting

ADAMS, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - An update on Tuesday’s officer-involved shooting in Adams.
It reportedly happened after 25-year-old Phillip White called 911, falsely claiming his friend had been stabbed.
Police arrived to blood trailing outside, into a Commercial Street home. White then allegedly approached an officer with a sharp object in hand, prompting the officer to fire. No one was shot, and white was detained shortly after.
Investigators believe there was no friend, and White injured himself. On Friday in court, the judge ruled white be held without bail for violating probation from a prior incident.
White also had three outstanding warrants. He’s due back in court on Wednesday for a dangerousness hearing. The court’s ordered an evaluation on his competence to stand trial.
The Berkshire District Attorney’s Office said full findings of the incident, including the officer involved will be announced once investigation is done.
