EAST LONGMEADOW, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - Police arrested a 19-year-old in Springfield on Thursday morning in connection to the East Longmeadow kidnapping incident on Tuesday.

Massachusetts State Police arrested 19-year-old Ezier Santiago around 11:25 p.m. Thursday morning in Springfield.

Santiago was wanted on an arrest warrant obtained by East Longmeadow Police and is now facing charges including kidnapping and assault and battery on a family or household member.

The arrest stemmed from an incident that took place on Maple Street in East Longmeadow on Tuesday, right near the town’s high school where police received multiple 911 calls regarding a possible kidnapping and assault.

Santiago was taken into custody, booked, and brought to court for his arraignment this afternoon where he pleaded not guilty. He’s currently being held without the right to bail. Santiago’s detention hearing is set for April 16th.

East Longmeadow’s Police Chief Mark Williams also thanked Mass. State Police, Longmeadow Police, WestCOMM Dispatch, and all members of the public who called 911 reporting suspicious activity and took action to assist the victim.
