Dine Springfield Restaurant Week to kick off Friday

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - This Friday kicks off Dine Springfield Restaurant Week, hosted by the Springfield Business Improvement District. With this year’s theme being Eat Around the World, it’s symbolic of the diverse food scene that can be found here in the City of Firsts. And for ten days, patrons can eat from Worthington Street all the way to here on Dickerson Street and get a taste of Springfield.
“It’s actually just to uplift, promote, it’s a sense of community. It gives the restaurants an opportunity to showcase their specialties,” said Executive Director of the Springfield Business Improvement District Michael Grout.
From traditional staples like Theodore’s BBQ, to newer restaurants hitting the scene — Dine Springfield is a great opportunity to taste the best food the city has to offer.
Syron Wheeler is the owner of Topfusion Smokehouse on Dickerson Street in Forest Park, he told Western Mass News that he feels vindicated after being approached by the SBID to join in this year’s restaurant week, “it just shows down the right path to success. It shows that I am being recognized. I just passed my second year, May 17th, and hopefully I keep going.”
The restaurant specializes in smoked meats infused with different cuisines from Italian to Mexican. for this year’s restaurant week Wheeler is dishing out a barbecue bag and a BBQ parfait cup that’ll your taste buds on a ride, “The barbecue bag is just filled with different meats. So, you get your smoked wings, your smoked ribs, Dotson barbecue sauce. Then you have corn, potatoes, and a kielbasa all in one bag. Parfait cup, which comes with mashed potatoes, or house-made mac and cheese. And then you get brisket, chicken, or pulled pork topped with cornbread on top of that.”
Now, the fun will last until June 14th, so remember to bring your appetite, tip well, and eat local.
