A source close to Dolly Parton is assuring worried fans that the country music legend is on the mend following recent health challenges.

“Dolly is getting better everyday,” the source told PEOPLE. “She is at home taking care of herself while many friends and family visit her ... In true Dolly spirit she has already started decorating for the holidays — her favorite time of year.”

The assurance from the source follows recent health challenges that have caused the Grammy Award winner to skip out on several recent appearances.

On Sept. 17, Parton had to miss the opening of a new experience at her theme park, Dollywood, because of kidney stones. The week after, Parton postponed her upcoming Las Vegas shows because of “health challenges.”

At the beginning of October, the 79-year-old reassured fans by saying, “I want you to know that I’m OK,” in a video posted with the caption, “I ain’t dead yet!”

“I wanted to say I know lately everybody thinks that I am sicker than I am. Do I look sick to you? I’m working hard here,” the Grand Ole Opry member said in the video. “Anyway, I wanted to put everybody’s mind at ease.”

Parton went on to say she has “some problems” that she neglected for a while after her husband’s death in March.

“Back when my husband, Carl, was very sick, that was for a long time, and then when he passed, I didn’t take care of myself, so I let a lot of things go that I should’ve been taking care of,” Parton said. “So anyway, when I got around to it, the doctor said, we need to take care of this. We need to take care of that.”

While she didn’t specify her health issues, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee said they were “nothing major.”

“But I did have to cancel some things so I could be closer to home, closer to Vanderbilt [University Medical Center], where I’m kind of having a few treatments here and there, but I wanted you to know that I’m not dying,” Parton continued.

“I’m not ready to die yet. I don’t think God is through with me and I ain’t done working,” the Country Music Hall of Fame member added. “So I love you for caring, and keep praying for me.”
