Easthampton votes for $6.9 million tax override

EASTHAMPTON, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Easthampton voters have made their voices heard at the polls and they’re saying yes.
On Tuesday, residents voted for a $6.9 million property tax override.
Prior to the vote, residents stressed the importance of the money for schools and public safety.
“I know how important schools are and so I’m really, that’s why I voted. Yes, I know what it’s like to be on the chopping block,” said former teacher Patti Richmond “It happened to me one time in my career and I would hate to see a lot of teachers and other paraprofessionals lose their positions.”
