Emergency care access will remain following Baystate’s acquisition of Mercy

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - A Massachusetts representative has reaffirmed that an emergency room will remain open and fully operational following talks with the president and CEO of Baystate.
This comes after Baystate Health announced last month that they would acquire Mercy Medical Center, its affiliates, and medical groups.
State Representative Carlos Gonzalez also said that current staffing levels will be preserved and existing union contracts will be upheld.
“Transparency, collaboration and open communication as the process progresses is paramount to safeguard the health and wellbeing of our residents,” Gonzalez said.
