Firefighters respond to electrical fire in Holyoke

HOLYOKE, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - Just After 3 p.m. on Saturday, the Holyoke Fire Department responded to a call of a house fire at 313 Hillside Avenue.

Western Mass News was on the scene and noticed several fire engines blocking the narrow road as they worked to put out the fire.

According to Holyoke Fire spokesperson David Rex, fire crews arrived to smoke coming from the attic. When firefighters were sweeping the house, crews noticed the fire was within the walls of the kitchen.

No injuries were reported in response to the blaze. Upon investigation, the cause of the fire was determined to be from an electrical issue from within the walls.
