MOUNTAGUE, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - Montague Police officers being credited for their quick thinking after a dog was saved from a house fire. According to officials, flames broke out in the kitchen, just before 1 p.m. on Friday afternoon.

Officers arrived at Turnpike Road before fire crews, finding the resident safe outside, who then told them their dog was still inside. Those officers grabbed four fire extinguishers from their cruisers, helping to get flames under control until firefighters took over.

The dog was rescued and reunited with the owner.
