First responders work second day to battle brush fire

ORANGE, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Firefighters continued to work tirelessly to contain a 7-and-a-half-acre brush fire in a remote part of Orange, the fire initially broke out on Friday evening.
Crews first spotted a large column of smoke in the North Orange area around 6 p.m. and tracked it to woods about a half mile in from Town Farm Road. Multiple mutual aid departments were called in as firefighters were working by hand to clear the area around the fire in very difficult terrain.
Officials said surrounding towns will come together early this morning and likely in the next few days to continue work. The fire was about 75-percent surrounded but orange fire is assuring everyone there is no concern for rapid spread of the flames nor any threats to nearby structures.
On Saturday morning, the Orange Fire Department stated that the brush fire was still being contained and is in no danger of spreading. Crews were out in the forest as they worked to put out remaining flames and hot spots. Officials also said that smoke will remain in the area for the next few days.
