Five displaced in morning fire in Springfield’s McKnight neighborhood
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - After 8 a.m. on the morning of Sunday, July 12th, crews from the Springfield Fire Department responded to a house fire at 84 Buckingham Street in Springfield’s McKnight neighborhood.
When crews arrived, they found the fire coming from the kitchen within the first floor of the home. The fire was quickly put out and without any injury.
A total of 5 people and one pet dog have been displaced as a result of the blaze and are currently being assisted by the Springfield Red Cross.
The Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad has determined the cause of the fire was due to improper disposal of smoking material into a trash bin.
