Former Adams police chief charged with fraud

ADAMS, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - A former Adams Police Chief is facing felony charges after a grand jury found probable cause he fraudulently billed a state traffic grant for thousands of dollars in overtime.
Prosecutors said 46-year-old Kevin Scott Kelly of South Carolina, the former chief of the Adams Police Department, was indicted on Tuesday in Pittsfield on three fraud related charges.
Investigators allege that between January 2024 and January 2025, kelly submitted reimbursement claims for overtime shifts he didn’t work or work that didn’t match the grant’s requirements, collecting more than $19,000.
Kelly is expected to be arraigned in Berkshire Superior Court at a later date.
