SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Girl Scouts from far and wide are celebrating 100 years of Camp Lewis Perkins in South Hadley, a community-wide celebration was held on Saturday.

Scouts brought their best campfire songs and s’more making skills for the fire. A ton of activities were available such as archery, scavenger hunts and water games.

The CEO of the Massachusetts Girl Scouts Theresa Lynn said spending time in nature has kept the Girl Scouts strong for so long, “we have four camps in central and western Mass. And three of them are over a hundred years old. So, this model of getting girls out in nature, doing new things, developing confidence, singing songs, doing archery, swimming, boating,all of it that does stand the test of time.”

Lynn also said Lewis Perkins is an asset to the community and she encourages all young girls to try it out.
