Hadley narrowly passes $1.5 million tax hike

HADLEY, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - The Town of Hadley held a special election on Tuesday, narrowly passing a $1.5 million real estate and property tax hike.
The resolution passed by only 12 votes.
On the ballot, the town asked voters if they should be allowed to assess an extra $850,000 in taxes to fund the fire department, the police department, and schools and whether they should be allowed to assess an extra $1.5 million in taxes to fund public safety.
Residents voted “yes” on both questions, bringing the grand total to $2.35 million in additional taxes for the fiscal year 2027.
