SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Thirty-two nonprofit organizations serving Hampden County received almost $120,000 dollars in funds on Thursday during the Hampden District Attorney’s annual Forfeiture Community Support Program Awards Ceremony.

This marks both the largest total award amount and the greatest number of recipients in the program’s history. The funding came directly from a state law allowing any money seized during drug cases to be forfeited through the courts and redistributed back into our communities.

Western Mass News was at the ceremony and heard from Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni on why they continue to put this funding towards local non-profits every year, “given the unprecedented number of applications we received this year, 54, we worked carefully to maximize the impact of these dollars and support as many worthwhile projects and organizations as possible. The organizations recognized today represent a wide range of missions, but they share a common goal. Creating stronger, healthier, and safer communities throughout Hamden County.”

A few of the non-profits recognized today include the African Diaspora Mental Health Association and the Gray House.
