Handgun, drugs seized after traffic stop in Forest Park

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Around 9 a.m. on Friday, June 3rd, officers of the Springfield Police Department had noticed a rider on a motorcycle without a license plate.

Police then began their surveillance of the rider, which led to them observing a suspected drug deal take place on Locust Street. The rider turned out to be 26-year-old Jose Gonzalez-Feliciano of Springfield, who police were already aware that he had a suspended license.

Officers then conducted a traffic stop of Gonzalez-Feliciano at the 100 block of Belmont Avenue. Gonzalez-Feliciano immediately tried to run away from police, but was quickly apprehended.

During a body search of Gonzalez-Feliciano, he was found in possession of a loaded Glock style handgun, as well as 124 bags of heroin and thee-and-a-half grams of crack cocaine.

Gonzalez-Feliciano was quickly placed under arrest, and now face a slew of motor vehicle, firearm, and drug related charges.
