SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Time is running out to find snow shovels and ice melt, and some stores are already running low. Hardware stores, like Rocky’s Ace Hardware, are key spots to find those supplies. Shoppers are out trying to stock up ahead of the storm.

Our crew stopped by the Rocky’s Ace Hardware in Liberty Heights on Thursday afternoon. We saw plenty of rock salt and ice melt available, as well as shovels, brushes and scrapers for cars, and even wooden pellets for those who have pellet stoves.

However, the store’s general manager says they are down to their last batch of snow melt, and he is worried some shoppers will miss out, “err on the side of caution. It’s better to have too much than too little or not enough. So, if you’re missing out on some, or you don’t think you have enough, just grab it because whatever you don’t use, you can save for next year,” said Dan Pagan.

One customer who did just that: Belchertown’s Diane Carr. she couldn’t find any bags of salt at the ACE location where she lives. She was lucky and was able to grab four bags for herself and family, “I just wanted to have it on hand because it does get cold at night. And, I want to make sure our stairs stay safe,” said Carr.

Right now, this store is good on shovels, but they are running low on car brushes and salt spreaders. That’s why staff are saying get whatever you need now while you can.

If you can’t find what you need, you can try other ace locations in the area.
