Hearing postponed for lawsuit against proposed Springfield courthouse

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - We told you last week that 2 developers who competed for the right to host Springfield’s new courthouse have filed a joint lawsuit challenging the state’s selection of 125 Liberty Street as the site of the Roderick Ireland Regional Justice Center.
A hearing regarding that lawsuit was set to take place this Thursday, but we have just learned it’s been rescheduled. The lawsuit seeks to stop the Commonwealth from finalizing a long‑term lease for a new courthouse at 125 Liberty Street before a judge can review the award.
The hearing has been rescheduled following a motion by DCAMM (Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance) saying they need more time to be briefed on the lawsuit and bring back top officials who are traveling.
At this time, a new date has not yet been set.
