Bostwick Gardens in Great Barrington has a short waitlist for its one-bedroom units. The development is looking for applicants who make less than 60 percent of the area median income and are at least 62 years old or have mobility issues requiring they live in an ADA-accessible unit.

PITTSFIELD — Hearthway has announced that five of its affordable and elderly housing developments have very short waitlists. Here is what you need to know to apply.

Hearthway, the nonprofit housing developer and manager formerly known as the Berkshire Regional Development Corp., said in a press release that it is looking for applications at several different locations in multiple types of apartments.

To apply, fill out an application to the property you want to live in. Then send in the application by emailing Hearthway's leasing office at [email protected], dropping off the physical application in its main office at 1 Fenn St. in Pittsfield, faxing the application to 413-403-2710 or mailing the application to PO Box 1180, Pittsfield, MA 01202-1180.

You can find the application to a property by clicking on its name in the story and navigating to the application materials.

Hearthway has three types of units with a small wait list in developments open to families.

The apartments at 57 Main St. in Lee have one-bedroom units with a few that are ADA-accessible, and those units will cost $1,234 a month.

Brattlebrook Village, at 111 April Lane in Pittsfield, is looking for applications for both one and two-bedroom units. The one-bedroom apartment is $1,147 a month, and the two bedroom is $1,372.

Both developments require that residents make less than 60 percent of the area median income (AMI). For a one person household in Pittsfield, that would be anyone making less than $51,600, and the full breakdown can be found here. Neither development has rental assistance but mobile vouchers will be accepted.

There are four other types of units accepting applications at three different elderly housing developments.

Bostwick Gardens, at 899 Main St. in Great Barrington, has one-bedroom apartments for $1,168 a month. Applicants must make less than 60 percent of the AMI to qualify and be at least 62 years old or have mobility issues requiring them to live in an ADA-accessible unit.

Highland Woods, at 140 Church St., has ADA-accessible, one-bedroom units for $1,232, and the development has two-bedroom units for $1,479. Applicants must make less than 60 percent of the AMI for the one-bedroom units, and must make less than either 50 or 60 percent of the AMI for the two-bedroom units. All applicants must be at least 62 years old.

Both developments do not offer rental assistance, but they do accept mobile vouchers.

There are also rent assisted studios accepting applications in the Barrett House, at 17 Pleasant St. in Adams. Tenants here only pay 30 percent of their gross income toward rent. Applicants must make less than 50 percent of the AMI and at least 62 years of age or have mobility issues requiring them to live in an ADA accessible unit.
