HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - In accordance with Holyoke’s Water Management Act Registration, the city is implementing some water use restrictions.

A significant drought is impacting the Connecticut River Valley, but the city’s water supply remains stable. However, Holyoke is still complying with the Water Management Act.

As part of the restrictions, all nonessential outdoor water uses are banned except for watering gardens with drip irrigation, handheld hose or water cans.

Nonessential uses include irrigation of lawns using sprinklers or automatic irrigation systems as well as handwashing vehicles and washing parking lots, driveways and sidewalks.

Essential uses of water, including production of food, vegetable gardens and maintenance of livestock, remain.
