Hundreds of firefighters respond to brush fire in Warren

WARREN, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - A brush fire broke out in Warren Monday morning and fire officials say dangerous conditions made it a tough fight.
Crews responded to Brimfield Road around 10 a.m. after reports of smoke in the wooded area. They had to call a third alarm due to difficult terrain and hundreds of firefighters responded.
Warren Fire Chief Adam Lavoie says fire can easily spread in forested areas, especially on windy days.
Now that burning season is over, people should be paying attention and check conditions before setting a spark, he said.
“The wind is up,” he said. “It’s very high danger at this point, so if people are going to have any campfires or cooking fires, we would suggest that they use extreme caution at this time because once it gets into the woods, it’s very hard to contain, especially with a light wind.”
Lavoie confirmed that none of the nearby homes were impacted by Monday morning’s fire.
