Jeep rolls over after striking tree and signpost in Hancock rest area

HANCOCK — A man was transported to the hospital Tuesday after he lost control of his Jeep on Lebanon Mountain Road (Route 20), hit a road sign, took out a small tree, flipped over and landed on its side.
A Jeep got tangled up in a tree in a rest area just west of the 1 mile marker on Tuesday on Route 20 in Hancock.
The driver, who was not identified, got out of the vehicle himself and told emergency workers he was fine, but he was taken to Berkshire Medical Center by Richmond Ambulance with a paramedic from County Ambulance on board.
Hancock First Assistant Fire Chief Tony Anderton said the Jeep was heading west about 4:18 p.m. when the driver lost control, struck the sign and tree, and came to a stop in a rest area.
The Jeep had turf in its roof and a broken windshield. Parts including springs and a bumper were littered in the rest area just west of the 1 mile marker in Massachusetts.
Massachusetts State Police troopers on scene referred questions about citations to the barracks.
A Jeep left the roadway on Lebanon Mountain Road in Hancock, then hit a sign, sheared struck a tree and rolled over.
Richmond Fire Department also responded.
