Litigation against the legislation to proceed

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell has now authorized the state auditor to sue the legislature over access to its own financial records.
State Auditor Diana Dizoglio has been fighting for access after 72 percent of voters gave their support to audit the legislature in 2024.
Tuesday’s move follows a supreme judicial court order and covers budgets, audits, transaction lists and payout agreements from 2021 through 2024. A special assistant attorney general will be appointed to represent each side.
The auditor has been told to drop her original case and refile a narrower lawsuit by May 18.
