Loan saves final fall semester of Hampshire College

AMHERST, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Hampshire College has a new financial lifeline to help wind down campus operations in the fall.
The school has reached an agreement in principle with a philanthropic partner for a loan to support its teach-out and give time to plan strategic land sales.
In a statement on Monday, Hampshire’s president said that the loan is expected to be finalized next month.
She goes on to say “the college projects having adequate financial resources to complete the teach-out of academic programs through Dec. 31, 2026.”
Therefore, students will be able to complete the fall semester.
In the meantime, the Board of Trustees voted over the weekend to continue with the summer and fall semesters as planned.
