BELCHERTOWN, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - A Belchertown man will be staying behind bars until further notice after he was arraigned on a murder charge in the death of his wife, back in March.

Prosecutors said 56-year-old Mark Opper shot and killed 56-year-old Diane Opper inside their home on Daniel Shays Highway, back on March 27th. He was first arraigned in Eastern Hampshire District Court in late March.

According to court documents we obtained, police were called to the house after a man called 911, saying his gun went off and he’d shot his wife. A Hampshire County grand jury indicted him, moving the case to superior court.

Opper was arraigned there today and is being held without bail. A pretrial hearing in the case is set for November.
