Man convicted for drug trafficking

NORTHAMPTON, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - A man has been convicted in Hampshire Superior Court on firearms and drug trafficking charges. 38-year-old Michael Ruiz was found guilty following a traffic stop in November of 2023.
Massachusetts State Police pulled Ruiz over on Route 202 in Pelham for driving with a suspended license. During a search of his vehicle, troopers found a loaded handgun. They also discovered approximately 219 grams of cocaine and 450 bags of fentanyl, along with a digital scale.
Ruiz was indicted in May of 2025 on multiple charges, including unlawful possession of a high-capacity firearm and trafficking large quantities of drugs.
