Holyoke, MA. (WGGB/WSHM) - A man died after a shooting Saturday evening on Sergeant Street, according to the Holyoke Police Department.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired with a victim injured in the area of 139 Sergeant Street at approximately 5:39 p.m. on April 18.

Officers found an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound and began life-saving measures. The victim was transported to Baystate Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The Hampden District Attorney’s State Police Detective Unit, Murder Unit, and the Holyoke Police Department are investigating.

There is no ongoing threat to the public, according to the release.
