BOSTON (WGGB/WSHM) - While the air quality around us might have improved since this time last week following the Canadian wildfires, crews are still working to control some of the flames. Soon, some Baystaters will be joining them.

Our affiliate station in Minnesota said as of Wednesday, the fires have burned more than 63,000 acres on the U.S. side of the border.

Governor Maura Healey said a 10 person “suppression module” from the Department of Conservation and MassWildlife will deploy to the area this weekend including Benjamin Mazzei from Pelham and Joseph Nawrocki from New Salem.
