SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Mayor Domenic Sarno has sent a letter to federal leaders in support of keeping a local USPS branch open.

Following the news of the 150 Boston Road location closure, Sarno visited the post office and heard directly from Pine Point residents.

“Members of the community have reached out to me directly to share their concerns on how this closure would be a loss for our community,” he said.

Sarno wrote a letter to Senator Elizabeth Warren, Senator Edward Markey and Congressman Richard Neal to address the issue. He said the next nearest post offices are miles away from the Boston Road location.

“This location is a strong blue-collar and business corridor neighborhood,” he said. “This location not only helps to increase foot traffic for the partner business but it also enhances postal services and access for our community, especially for the hard-working residents of the Pine Point neighborhood.”
