McDonald’s employee accused of contaminating food charged

SOUTHBRIDGE, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - A criminal complaint has been issued after video circulated of a McDonald’s employee in Southbridge appearing to contaminate food.
Court documents identify the accused as Kaylie Maris Santos, who’s now charged with a felony.
The video appeared to show Santos putting multiple fries in her mouth before transferring them to a McDonald’s container. It prompted a response from Southbridge police and the state’s health department.
The McDonald’s had a history of compliance with food safety and handling regulations prior to this incident.
Santos is charged with distributing food with a harmful substance. She is expected to be arraigned in June.
